Schofield Sweeney encountered another example of derogatory posts on Facebook causing concern for a business this week. The firm’s litigation team was consulted by the owner of a small local business who had discovered that a former employee who had recently left the business had made a derogatory post in the business’ review section on its Facebook page. The business owner, who trades in the food and hospitality sector, was concerned that the post would have an adverse effect on his business.
Having been consulted, Schofield Sweeney fired off an email to the poster threatening action if the post was not removed. Fortunately sense prevailed and the poster replied within two hours confirming that it had been taken down.
