Our property team has recently assisted in the transaction which has seen independent craft brewery North Brewing Co unveil its new multi-million pound home in North Leeds.
Springwell, based in a former tannery on Buslingthorpe Lane, sees North Brewing Co double its capacity, open a new 500-person taproom, and move its bar and brewery HQ under one roof.
David Cowgill, commercial property partner, advised the landlord on the new lease with assistance from Zoe Murphy. Environmental advice was provided by Craig Burman, environmental and regulatory partner. The historic site is a 21,000 square foot factory sympathetically showcasing its industrial heritage. David Cowgill said: “It is great to see a historic site now being used in a vibrant way, creating jobs and local investment. We wish both the landlord and North Brewing Co all the best with the new venture.”
North Brewing Co have successfully received a Business Growth Programme Fund from the West Yorkshire Combined Authority to support the project and generate 7 further jobs in the business.
Springwell will provide a central hub for the brewery and its family of seven bars and taprooms and will be home to the North HQ with a state of the art office designed in collaboration with Refold and Design Tonic. This space will allow the brewery and bar operations to come under the same roof and provide a training space for bar teams from across the country to learn a little more about North’s beers.
