Advising uponthe most appropriate will structure for an individual with assets of over £14 million across three different jurisdictions and with blended family considerations. Working with an appropriate international adviser, a trust structure was created in the Will in order to achieve the client’s desired level of asset protection whilst at the same time ensuring maximum inheritance tax efficiency.
Giving inheritance tax advice to a family of shareholders following the sale of the business where the proceeds of sale were significant and held in a discretionary trust. Detailed advice was given, and the appropriate documents drawn up to ensure the desired approach was achieved for each family.
Identifying an opportunity to execute a deed of variation in order to reclaim a significant amount of inheritance tax in an estate that had been dealt with by another firm. A successful claim for a substantial refund was duly made.
