Leo advises on a range of contentious matters, with expertise in tax-related disputes, trading relationships, boardroom/shareholder disputes, pensions litigation and civil fraud.
He has extensively litigated cases before the High Court, Court of Appeal, County Courts and Tax Tribunal. He, therefore, has a wealth of experience of resolving disputes for a range of clients, including multi-national PLCs, SMEs and individuals.
Leo is a keen advocate of alternative dispute resolution, including mediation. Leo’s clients value his pragmatic and calming approach throughout what is often viewed as an arduous time.
Work highlights include:
- Advising multiple parties in defending a £15m claim before the High Court in London. This high-profile matter involved a complex claim for breach of fiduciary duty against the defendants and addressed many noteworthy and specialist issues of trust and insolvency law.
- Acting on behalf of a national pharmaceutical PLC defending a High Court claim for significant share incentive scheme payments by a former executive.
- Acting for a major firm of estate agents in proceedings in the Royal Court of Guernsey relating to the setting aside of an employee benefit trust on the ground of mistake. Also, acting for the same party in pursuing a considerable claim for professional negligence against its former legal advisors for the provision of negligent corporation tax advice.
In a voluntary capacity, Leo is a trustee of Simon on the Streets, a Yorkshire-based homelessness charity and regularly supports them on fundraising initiatives.
