Firm with £50m client assets advised on acquisition

5th February 2021

We are pleased to have advised White Wells Investments LLP as they are acquired by private equity-backed financial services firm Wren Sterling.

Ilkley-based White Wells has approximately £50m of client assets under advice and, under the terms of the deal, the firm’s principal Michael Dunn has joined Wren Sterling as an employed adviser.

The acquisition for Wren Sterling, their first of 2021, comes on the back of an acquisition facility secured from Dunport Capital Management in 2020, which will enable the Nottingham-based company to make further deals throughout the year.

Dan Bisby, associate in our corporate team, acted for White Wells Investments LLP.

“Congratulations to Michael and the team at Wren Sterling. It was a really enjoyable deal to be involved in.”

Ian Halley, Wren Sterling’s chief executive, said: “First of all, I’m delighted to welcome Michael to Wren Sterling. He has built an excellent business over many years with a loyal client bank, which makes White Wells exactly the sort of well-run advice business I want to add to Wren Sterling.

“Wren Sterling has gone from strength to strength over the last twelve months with two excellent acquisitions completed and we have continued to grow in this tough trading environment. We will continue to make acquisitions of high-quality businesses in the year to come.”
