Some other substantial reason (SOSR) is one of the fair reasons for dismissing an employee.
Whilst most employers are familiar with conduct, redundancy and capability dismissals, dismissing an employee with no performance issues or where there has not been a clear-cut case of misconduct can be difficult and risky.
What is the forum?
Our employment law partner, John Robinson, will facilitate a round table discussion with like-minded HR professionals about what a fair SOSR dismissal looks like and the pitfalls to avoid.
Examples of SOSR dismissals we’ll cover:
- Conflicts of interest / outside of work activities
- Personality clashes
- Reputational risk
- Third-party pressure
- Breakdown in trust and confidence
