Farooq has 20 years of experience in commercial property work. He leads the firm’s Islamic finance team, offering advice on various financial matters aligned with Islamic principles.

His specialisms include advising on secured lending, investment property acquisitions and disposals, retail and pharmacy leases and property aspects of anaerobic digestion projects and battery energy storage schemes.

Farooq acts for a wide range of clients including individuals, owner-managed small to medium size businesses, banks, large national organisations and renewable energy companies.

Work highlights include:

• Acting for a client on the site assembly and sale of development land with the benefit of planning and with overage and deferred consideration – with the developed value of scheme over £15m.
• Working on a partnership incorporation and refinance of a mixed residential and commercial property portfolio. Farooq jointly represented the client and the Bank of Cyprus in the transfer of properties from the partnership to the limited company – with a portfolio value of £12m.

In a voluntary capacity, Farooq is a coach for Mount Pleasant Juniors Football Club in Batley.
