Freixenet Copestick, part of Henkell Freixenet, the leading international producer of sparkling wine, has been advised by our corporate team on the sale of its Jascots Wine Merchants business, to Italian food company Compagnia del Gusto Holding (CDGH UK).
Specialist wine supplier Jascots supplies premium hotels, bars, restaurants and independent merchants across the UK, with a range of well recognised wines from around the world, including Henkell Freixenet’s own Bolney English Wine, Champagne Alfred Gratien and Schloss Johannisberg. It has been part of the Freixenet Copestick business since 2020.
The acquisition of Jascots marks the first entry into the UK market for Compagnia del Gusto, which specialises in the investment and development of SME food and beverage brands. The Italian company, founded in 2025 by the Cosulich family, has three operational divisions specialising in seafood, artisanal food products and wine and sees the acquisition as a strategic move to gain a solid distribution platform and bring its Italian food and wine portfolio to the UK market.
CDGH will continue to work closely with Freixenet Copestick to ensure continuity for customers and to maintain strong connections with its brands.
Our corporate partner Michael Cantwell led the transaction, supported by colleagues Alex Aitken and Karen Crutchley.
He said: “The sale and the ongoing partnership between Freixenet and Compagnia del Gusto Holding will ensure business continuity and new development opportunities for the Jascots team and its customers, and we hope it will be a successful move for all involved.”
Freixenet Copestick Managing Director, Damian Clarke, commented: “This is the first time we had worked with Schofield Sweeney on a transaction, and we were delighted with both the outcome and the support they provided.”
