We were supported by over a thousand people at Bradford’s first Soapbox challenge. Our team ‘Don’t Judge Us’ built and raced a law-themed soapbox to raise funds for Yorkshire Cancer Research.
We have raised £330 for the charity and are still welcoming any donations – Schofield Sweeney is fundraising for Yorkshire Cancer Research (justgiving.com)
During the race we ended up with an unexpected best time of 37.40 seconds down the track shaving off seconds from our first two runs on the third go down – qualifying for the top ten shootout.
We were joined by over 20 other soapboxes from businesses and organisations getting pushed down the ramp and hurtling toward the finish line. It was a fantastic day of entertainment and community spirit.
“This was a great event for Bradford; there were so many people lining the streets, cheering the teams on and supporting the local businesses. Every team that took part made such a huge effort, and we were delighted (and surprised!) how well our soapbox performed. The ‘Don’t Judge Us’ team will be back again next year!” Ann-Marie Keighley
The Bradford BID Super Soapbox Challenge consisted of three heats before the 10 fastest teams then battled it out in a final, called the “Top Ten Shootout”.
Well done to the Don’t Judge Us team – Jack Venable (Driver), Rachel Henry, Chloe Scott, Graham Sweeney, Jessica Fielden, Oliver Brooke, Abigail Falshaw, Christine Hinchcliffe and Ann-Marie Keighley.
