Bank holiday fun at Bradford Soapbox Race

2nd May 2023

We attended our second Bradford Soapbox challenge over the bank holiday weekend. Our team ‘Don’t Judge Us’ built and raced our tortoise and the hare themed soapbox to raise funds for our charity of the year, Age UK Bradford District.

We have raised £1255 and are still welcoming donations please, if you are able to support the good cause – thank you – Schofield Sweeney is fundraising for Age UK Bradford District (justgiving.com)

We managed to beat last year’s time with a PB down the course of 36.36 seconds! Despite qualifying for the top ten shootout in 4th place, unfortunately we were defeated in the finals due to a collision with the barrier on the last bend.

The event was a great success with thousands coming out to enjoy the race. The competition was strong with 23 soapbox teams battling it out for victory.

“We said we would be back, and we were. Our team put a huge amount of effort into renovating and gearing up our cart for the race and it showed off with impressive results. The event was great for Bradford; there were lots of people in the centre, cheering the teams on and enjoying the entertainment topped off with lots of food stalls on offer in City Square. Well done everyone and looking forward to next year!” Chloe Scott, Marketing and events executive.

Well done to the ‘Don’t Judge Us’ team – Jack Venable (Driver), Jessica Fielden, Chloe Scott, Oliver Brooke, Elizabeth Foster, Emma Davies, Hannah Cullen, Sameer Sindhu, Graham Sweeney and Ann-Marie Keighley.
