Our dispute resolution team are delighted to have assisted Unorthobox, a local not-for-profit community interest company, in successfully resolving its trademark application dispute.
The organisation’s application to register its long-standing and widely recognised logo and name “Unorthobox” was opposed by a UK based boxing clothing company. The opposition was long and forcefully drawn out by the UK company.
Annie Hui-Gillen, Darcey Sutcliffe and other members of the Dispute Resolution team assisted Unorthobox on a pro-bono basis. The opposition was eventually withdrawn with the team’s help, and the organisation’s logo and name were successfully registered as a trademark, unopposed.
Sarah-Jane Murray, Founder of Unorthobox, said, “Schofield Sweeney were recommended to us by a business associate. We had been experiencing a particularly challenging and unexpected legal dispute. As a non-profit organisation, we had no legal expertise and no budget for legal support. Everyone we spoke to at Schofield Sweeney was so friendly, helpful and supportive which made a stressful situation much easier to deal with. They went above and beyond to assist us and we can’t thank them enough”.
“Unorthobox provides opportunities in the local areas for all ages, backgrounds and abilities to participate in boxing, fitness and other activities which promote health, wellbeing, and social inclusion. I am pleased to have been able to assist such a great organisation and hope they continue their excellent work” Annie Hui-Gillen, Associate
