Steve has over 35 years’ experience working across professional services partnerships, including 11 years in a Big 4 environment.
Originally trained as an engineer, he holds a degree in engineering and has worked as a qualified design engineer and project manager on major international projects across a range of sectors. His career spans engineering consultancy, Big 4 accountancy and, for the last 15 years, the legal sector. Over this time, Steve has developed a detailed understanding of the economic landscape, its structures and the forces that drive change, which he uses to provide insights and create opportunities across the regional business ecosystem.
Steve has expertise in strategy, business development, marketing and communications, supporting organisations in developing and delivering growth strategies. He works closely with clients to identify opportunities, respond to market challenges and adapt business models in a rapidly changing economic environment. He is currently supporting several major regional businesses as they navigate new challenges and opportunities, bringing a commercial, pragmatic and forward-thinking perspective to strategic decision-making.
A key strength of Steve’s is his extensive network of senior business leaders across both the public and private sectors. Built over many years, these relationships enable him to connect organisations for mutual benefit and foster collaboration across the region. He is also actively involved in a number of organisations, serving on the boards of Space Hub Yorkshire, Yorkshire Rewilding Network, Fix Our Food and The University of Leeds International School. Through these roles, Steve helps strengthen links between northern academia and the private sector, with a particular focus on skills development, innovation and long-term economic growth.
