Dorrien Peters

Dorrien is a commercial dispute resolution Partner with over 26 years’ experience advising businesses, shareholders and investors on high-value, complex disputes in the UK and internationally.

Before qualifying as a solicitor, Dorrien spent seven years in the aerospace engineering sector following an engineering apprenticeship. His technical background gives him particular insight into manufacturing, heavy engineering and technology disputes, and allows him to quickly grasp complex expert evidence and technical issues.

His specialisms include manufacturing and engineering disputes, IT and systems implementation claims, shareholder and corporate governance disputes, warranty claims, restrictive covenant litigation and urgent injunctive relief. He regularly advises on High Court litigation, arbitration, mediation and expert determination, particularly in cases involving complex technical evidence.

Work highlights include:

• Acting in a £33m defective product claim concerning 75,000 pipe fittings installed in a hospital water system.

• Defending a £5m warranty claim brought against the founder of an energy and battery technology business.

• Advising in a dispute concerning the management of a £420m open-ended student property investment fund.

• Leading a transatlantic team in a $20m manufacturing defect claim in the US Federal Court of Illinois.

• Acting in claims valued at approximately £700m relating to the procurement and operation of a nationwide NHS IT system.

Outside of practice, Dorrien chairs the Governing Body of an independent school and volunteers as an Explorer Scout Leader, applying his leadership and organisational skills in the community.
