Clive Lawrence

Clive has over thirty years of experience advising on all aspects of intellectual property law, dealing with patents, trade marks, copyright, designs, database rights, confidential information and their related rights and issues. His work covers identifying, securing and registering intellectual property rights, advising on their exploitation and commercialisation through commercial arrangements of all types, and protecting and enforcing them through courts and tribunals.

Clive advises across all sectors, from academic and educational institutions, technological industries and new product start-ups to consumer brands, charities, arts and media organisations and creatives of all kinds.

He has specific expertise in the sport and media industries and in the fields of sponsorship, endorsement, merchandising and licensing agreements and media contracts. He has co-written two editions of Sport: Law, Practice and Precedents, was sole author of Brands: Law, Practice and Precedents (all published by Jordans) and contributed chapters on intellectual property and proprietary rights in sport and merchandising and licensing agreements to Sport: Law and Precedents by Lewis & Taylor (four editions, various publishers). He was a board member of Leeds Media and chair of Audiences Yorkshire, the audience development agency for arts and cultural organisations in the region.
