Schools and Academy Trusts are faced with challenging issues on an almost daily basis. Whether complex or straightforward, knowing how to deal with these scenarios effectively avoids costly problems in the future.
Our education team advise over 150 schools and academies across the UK, so we are familiar with your problems.
What to expect:
With the use of case studies, some of the topics we will explore will include:
- Fixed term contracts: how will these work with the reduction in qualifying service for unfair dismissal protection from two years down to six months?
- If an employee has been arrested and their bail conditions prevent them from attending work, what can and should you do, do you have to pay them?
- How do you deal with an anonymous tip off about an employees’ out of work activities which cause concern about their suitability to work with children?
- There is a high level of conflict between a member of staff and several members of the leadership team: can you dismiss on the grounds of SOSR?
The case studies we will use will be based on real-life scenarios and issues that we are often asked to advise on. You may have faced similar headaches yourself.
We will guide you through the relevant law and the appropriate steps to take when dealing with similar problems in your workplace.
