Simon’s practice primarily focuses on advising both corporate clients and individuals on a range of commercial litigation matters.
He has experience litigating matters in the English courts as well as resolving disputes using alternative methods, including mediation and expert determination.
His specialisms include advising clients in the fields of economic sanctions and export controls. As part of this work, Simon has assisted clients with preparing for export compliance visits by the UK government and implementing export compliance programmes for multi-national businesses.
Work highlights include:
- Acting for a print and packaging company in a multimillion-pound dispute concerning the liability of an insurance company to provide an indemnity for losses arising from damage to a printing press – Contact (Print and Packaging) Ltd v Travelers Insurance Co Ltd [2018] EWHC 83 (TCC).
- Assisting the EMEA operations of a global paint and coating manufacturing business in planning and implementing a tailored export compliance programme.
Simon has also spoken at a number of events. These include presenting a seminar on the topic of UK export controls to an audience of Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce members as well as delegates at an aerospace and defence event.
