He has 36 years’ experience in commercial litigation including contract disputes, professional negligence claims, construction disputes, partnership disputes and company shareholder disputes.

His specialisms include advising on and preparing project documentation (contracts, professional appointments, sub-contracts, novations, warranties, bonds and guarantee). His experience in relation to construction disputes gives invaluable assistance in the preparation of project documentation by heading off potential weak points.

Richard has also been a Deputy District Judge of the High Court and County Court (North Eastern Circuit) for 25 years.

Work highlights include:

• Working on a £4m pension fraud claim against 10 defendants, including four firms of solicitors.
• Advising a specialist steel erector in 5 linked construction adjudications concerning 2 power stations (total value £20m).
• Acting for a hi-tech printing company in a £420,000 claim against machinery suppliers.
