Ellen provides support to the environmental and regulatory team on a broad range of contentious and non-contentious matters.
Her work covers environmental incidents, health and safety matters, investigations, disputes, flooding and drainage problems, pollution and contamination incidents, fracking and local authority matters (planning, licensing, noise, odour).
She advises on failed environmental searches and on the risk of contamination associated with past site uses. Ellen is also experienced in a variety of premises licensing matters, including applications, variations and compliance with conditions.
Work highlights include:
- Advising a national chain of restaurants with a variety of premises licensing matters to ensure compliance during a restructuring of the company.
- Providing research on complex legislation regarding sites of special scientific interest (SSSI) in relation to potential environmental damage.
In a voluntary capacity, Ellen spent three years supporting LGBTQ+ asylum seekers in their process of claiming asylum. She has also completed the Stop Hate UK online training programme, a government initiative.
