Concerns over the possibility of online abuse, negative reviews or damaging comments about individuals or businesses is becoming more common place but what can be done to stop or remove such abuse?
Currently action can be taken via a number of avenues for example if there has been a breach of online terms and conditions, the comments are defamatory or there is a breach any intellectual rights. However, could removal of such abuse be made easier or better be prevented in the first place?
Yvette Cooper is launching a campaign to "reclaim the internet" which will involve a public consultation for input on what can be done to prevent and tackle such abuse.
Hopefully the campaign will highlight some avenues that can be taken to assist anyone in receipt of such abuse and persuade hosting sites hosting to tighten their conditions to make the removal of such comments easier.
