Redundancy Workshop for Schools

28th March 2017

Whether it is due to budget cuts, falling pupil numbers or a need to change the curriculum, many schools and academies are facing the need to restructure and potentially undergo a redundancy process.

Schofield Sweeney’s employment team have devised an interactive workshop to assist schools and academies who do need to restructure by proving clear, pragmatic advice on the process to be followed.
The workshop will cover:

  • Whether there is a genuine redundancy situation
  • The advantage and disadvantages of asking for volunteers
  • Identifying the pool for selection
  • The application of fair selection criteria
  • Whether or not interviews should be held
  • The consultation process
  • Liaising with union representatives
  • Redundancy payments
  • Specific problems such as maternity leave

Case studies will be used so that the law can be applied to real life scenarios.
