Sarah RailtonIn response to increased workloads, Leeds and Bradford law firm, Schofield Sweeney, has appointed solicitor Sarah Railton to its commercial law department. Sarah, who lives in Harrogate and is a former pupil of the town's Ashville College, joins from Brabners solicitors in Manchester where her diverse client base included premiership football players, rugby league and rugby union players and the Professional Rugby Association, as well as large and medium sized businesses. Acting for such high-profile individuals and organisations provided unparalleled experience in contract law, drafting commercial agreements and intellectual property rights licensing. Ultimately, however, the draw of Yorkshire was too great and Sarah was pleased to cross back over the Pennines when the opportunity arose to join Schofield Sweeney.

At Schofield Sweeney, she is looking forward to working with the rest of the commercial team, led by Andrew Finfer, which has achieved national recognition for its ongoing work advising businesses based at British docks in their dynamic campaign against the Government's imposition of back-dated rates at UK ports. She will also be working closely with colleagues in the firm's corporate department and its projects team.

Commenting on Sarah's appointment, Senior Partner, Chris Schofield says:

“Sarah is an extremely bright and talented lawyer who has built up an impressive range of skills and experience, acting for some very high profile and well known individuals and organisations. The level of experience she has developed belies the fact that she has been practising as a qualified solicitor for less than two years. Although conditions across the whole of the legal sector are tough, our commercial team has been extremely busy on a range of work, including advising on complex legal challenges on behalf for port businesses and the Leeds Arena. Sarah's appointment is key to maintaining the high level of personal service that we are committed to delivering to all our clients.”

Sarah's appointment is the latest in a series of strategic appointments by Schofield Sweeney, which has grown steadily during the eleven years since it was founded, attracting plaudits from industry watchers. The firm is described in the current edition of the Legal 500 as 'increasingly making waves in the [West Yorkshire] region' and the current issue of Chambers Directory says 'This dynamic practice of highly adept, sensible operators continues to develop its presence in the market.'
