is an in-house employment law training and development programme devised by Schofield Sweeney’s specialist employment law team.
recognises that it is not just HR managers that need to be aware of the implications and consequences of employment law. The training is therefore aimed at all those who deal with personnel issues, from supervisors through to company directors. It is designed to give a practical awareness and understanding of all aspects of employment law, from recruitment through to termination of employment. A full day’s training will normally cover issues related to the following topics:
• The employment contract
• Wrongful dismissal / breach of contract
• Unfair dismissal
• Misconduct
• Poor performance
• Sickness absence
• Sex, race, disability and age discrimination
• Disciplinary procedures
• Grievance procedures
• Attending the Employment Tribunal
• Consequences of getting it wrong
Case studies will also be used to give a working knowledge of the pitfalls and complexities of employment law. These case studies will be based on ‘real-life’ cases and demonstrate the almost daily employment law problems employers experience, as well as the practical ways of dealing with these problems.
encourages delegate participation and is therefore best suited to groups of 5-12 delegates. The training will usually be held at your premises and is tailor-made to suit your needs. It is offered in a flexible format of breakfast seminars, half-day or full-day workshops.
In addition, primarily to benefit smaller organisations, Schofield Sweeney’s employment team will hold its full-day training session, complete with case studies, at its Leeds or Bradford offices. Full details of the dates and costs of such training will be announced on the frequent Employment News E-briefs and will also be available on our website. To ensure that the training is interactive, places on these training sessions will be limited to ten and will be from various organisations.
